BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7748 FAX: (517) 373-1387 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 22, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection was scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 408 (Sen. Irwin) and SB 409 (Sen. Cavanagh). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:32 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Irwin, McCann, Bayer, Huizenga, Theis and Daley, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adopt the meeting minutes from May 15, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Camilleri was excused from the meeting. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 408. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Irwin, McCann, Bayer, Huizenga, Theis, and Daley. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McCann to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 409. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Irwin, McCann, Bayer, Huizenga, Theis, and Daley. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted.
