BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7888 FAX: (517) 373-2983 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 23, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Regulatory Affairs was scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4603 (Rep. Tullio Liberati) with recommendation. 2. Reported HB 4519 (Rep. Helena Scott) with recommendation. 3. Testimony regarding HB 4647 (Rep. Aiyash). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, Lauwers and Bellino, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to adopt the meeting minutes from May 15, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4603: Jennifer Smith MI Assoc. of School Boards – Support Marnie Triemstra, LARA – Neutral The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McCann to report HB 4603 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, Lauwers, and Bellino. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair invited Greg Humphries, Legislative Direction with the Office of State Representative Scott to explain House Bill 4519. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding House Bill 4519: Page 1 of 2 Lydia Teasley, Daughter of Ron Teasley, Negro League Player – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to report HB 4519 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, Lauwers, and Bellino. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair invited State Representative Aiyash to explain HB 4647. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4647: Paige Fults, LARA – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
