BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0142 FAX: (517) 373-3938 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 4, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Labor was scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 895 (Sen. Cherry). 2. Testimony regarding SB 829 (Sen. Cherry) and SB 830 (Sen. Cherry). 3. Testimony regarding SB 740 (Sen. Camilleri). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:33 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri, Cavanagh and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the meeting minutes from May 16, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 740. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Cavanagh. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 895: Chad Jansen, IBEW – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 829 and SB 830: Bart Pickelman and Brennan Smith, MiOSHA – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 829 and SB 830: Robert Joerg, Michigan Laborers Distric Council – Support Wendy Block, Michigan Chamber of Commerce – Neutral David Worthams, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Neutral The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 740 and SB 895: Page 1 of 2 Jami Des Chenes, Michigan Chemistry Council – Opposition Amanda Fisher, NFIB – Opposition Jarrett Skorup, Mackinac Center – Opposition Yousef Rabhi, Michigan Nurses Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 895: Aaron Pangborn, IBEW Michigan State Conference – Support Neil Parish, National Electrical Contractors Association – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
