BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7888 FAX: (517) 373-2983 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 20, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Regulatory Affairs was scheduled for Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 868 (S-1) (Sen. Hertel) with recommendation. 2. Reported SB 906 (Sen. Moss) with recommendation. 3. Reported SB 907 (Sen. Moss) with recommendation. 4. Reported SB 908 (Sen. McMorrow) with recommendation. 5. Reported SB 930 (S-1) (Sen. Moss) with recommendation. 6. Testimony regarding SB 807 (Sen. McCann). 7. Presentation from Tobacco Free Kids. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, Lauwers and Bellino, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to adopt the meeting minutes from June 11, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen. Hertel to explain S-1 to SB 868. Member questions followed. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 868 (S-1): Rob Elhenicky, Kelley Cawthorne Diageo – Opposition Nate Love, MI Wine Producers Assoc. – Opposition Scott Graham, Michigan Bewers Guild – Opposition Brendan Ringlever, MI Spirits Assoc. – Opposition Andy Deloney, Distilled Spirits Council of the US – Opposition Page 1 of 3 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Hertel to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 868. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, Lauwers, and Bellino. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Hertel to report the (S-1) version of SB 868 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, and Lauwers. Nays: Sen.(s) Bellino. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. Polehanki to report SB 906 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. Member questions followed. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
