BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7888 FAX: (517) 373-2983 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 18, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Regulatory Affairs was scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 807 (S-1) (Sen. McCann) with recommendation. 2. Testimony regarding SB 982 (Sen. Singh), SB 983 (Sen. Lauwers) and SB 984 (Sen. Singh). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:31 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, Lauwers and Bellino, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to adopt the meeting minutes from June 20, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Senator McCann to explain SB 807 and (S-1) substitute. Member questions followed. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 807: Manny Lentine, Common Citizen – Support Jerry Griffin, Midwest Independent Retailers Association – Support Leah Robinson, MI Chamber of Commerce, MI Chamber of Commerce – Support Ricki Phillips, Self – Opposition The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McCann to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 807. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, and Bellino. Nays: Sen.(s) Lauwers. The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McCann to report the (S-1) version of SB 807 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Webber, and Bellino. Nays: Sen.(s) Lauwers. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported.
