BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 25, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Agriculture was scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 882 (Sen. Singh). 2. Testimony regarding SB 803 (Sen. Cherry). The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Cherry, Singh, Polehanki, Daley, Victory and Hoitenga, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to adopt the meeting minutes from June 12, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Senator Singh to summarize SB 882. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 882: James Lee of James Lee's Bees and President of the Sustainable Beekeepers Guild of MI – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 882: Private Individuals, Beekeepers and Honey Producers in Support of SB 882 – Support Dawn Drake, MI Agricultural Cooperative Assoc. – Support Mikaylah Heffernan, MDARD – Support Rebecca Park, MI Farm Bureau – Support Amanda Shreve, MI Farmers Market Assoc. – Support The Chair invited Senator Cherry to summarize SB 803. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 803: Chris Semrinec, DNR – Support Justin Tomei, MI United Conservation Clubs – Support Jack Ammerman, MI Pheasant Hunting Initiative – Support Jim Ballard, MI Hunting Dog Federation – Support Page 1 of 2 Carl Griffin, Safari Club International - Flint Chapter – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
