BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7315 FAX: (517) 373-3126 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 26, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy was scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 973 (Sen. Cavanagh). 2. Testimony regarding SB 974 (Sen. Irwin). 3. Testimony regarding SB 987 (Sen. McMorrow). 4. Testimony regarding SB 988 (Sen. McMorrow). 5. Testimony regarding SB 1006 (Sen. McMorrow). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Hertel, Sen.(s) Santana, Wojno, Cherry, Klinefelt, Geiss, Webber, Hauck, Huizenga, and Runestad, a quorum was present. At 1:31 p.m., the Chair called for the committee to go at ease. At 1:32 p.m., the Chair reconvened the committee. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Klinefelt to adopt the meeting minutes from June 18, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen.(s) Cavanagh and Irwin to summarize SB 973 and SB 974. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 973 and SB 974: Dr. Sarah Wallet, Planned Parenthood – Support Harsna Chahal, Citizen – Support Nupur Huria, Michigan Organization on Adolescent Sexual Health – Support Robyn Elliott, Free the Pill – Support Stephanie Williams, Mothers of Hope – Support The Chair invited Sen. McMorrow to summarize SB 987, SB 988, and SB 1006. Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited Dr. Jordan Fletcher, Dr. Shira Fishbach, and Dr. Suha Syed, from the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to further summarize SB 987, SB 988, and SB 1006.
