BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2406 FAX: (517) 373-5679 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 8, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Housing and Human Services was scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 12:00 noon, in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4062 (Rep. Conlin) with recommendation. 2. Reported HB 4063 (Rep. Morgan) with recommendation. 3. Testimony regarding SB 920 (Sen. Irwin). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, Lindsey, Hoitenga, and Damoose, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Santana to adopt the meeting minutes from October 1, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair summarized HB 4062 and HB 4063. The following cards were read in of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4062 and HB 4063: Annie Urasky, Michigan Department of Civil Rights – Support Jim Schaafsma, Michigan Poverty Law Program – Support Kelly Doyle, The HIV/AIDS Alliance of Michigan – Support Julie Cassidy, Michigan League for Public Policy – Support Marti Praschan, City of Ann Arbor – Support Dana Paglia-King, National Association of Social Workers Michigan Chapter – Support Kaci Pellar, Detroit Disability Power – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to report HB 4062 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, and Geiss Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey, Hoitenga, and Damoose Page 1 of 2 The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bayer to report HB 4063 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, and Geiss Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey, Hoitenga, and Damoose The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair summarized SB 920.
