BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0142 FAX: (517) 373-3938 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 8, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Labor was scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 963 (Sen. Santana), SB 964 (Sen. Cavanagh) and SB 965 (Sen. Camilleri). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri, Cavanagh and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the meeting minutes from June 13, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 963, SB 964 and SB 965: Sens. Darin Camilleri and Mary Cavanagh – Support Ryan Sebolt, Michigan AFL-CIO – Support Jennifer Shearer, Economic Policy Institute – Support Elinor Jordan, Michigan Immigrant Rights Center – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 964 and SB 965: Jayshona Hicks and Randall Harrison, Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 963, SB 964 and SB 965: Eli Isaguirre, MRCC – Support Bob Kefgen, Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals – Support Robert Joerg, Michigan Laborers – Support Aaron Squeo, UFCW 876 – Support Monique Stanton, Michigan League for Public Policy – Support Andy Neumann, Michigan Education Association – Support Mitch Albers, Michigan Association for Justice – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 964: Jennifer Smith, Michigan Association of School Boards – Support Page 1 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
