BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0142 FAX: (517) 373-3938 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES November 13, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Labor was scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 962 (S-2) (Sen. Cherry) with recommendation. 2. Reported SB 975 (S-1) (Sen. Singh) with recommendation. 3. Reported SB 976 (S-2) (Sen. Cherry) with recommendation. 4. Reported SB 981 (S-2) (Sen. Cavanagh) with recommendation. 5. Testimony regarding HB 5736 (Rep. Mentzer). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri, Cavanagh and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the meeting minutes from November 7, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 962. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Cavanagh. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 976. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Cavanagh. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 981. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Cavanagh. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. Camilleri to report the (S-2) version of SB 962 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Cavanagh. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to report the (S-1) version of SB 975 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Cavanagh. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to report the (S-2) version of SB 981 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Cavanagh. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair welcomed the following individuals to testify regarding HB 5736: Rep.
