BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7748 FAX: (517) 373-1387 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES November 13, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection was scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 1022 (S-1) (Sen. Singh) with recommendation. 2. Reported HB 4177 (Rep. Tyrone Carter) with recommendation. 3. Reported HB 5817 (Rep. Tyrone Carter) with recommendation. 4. Reported HB 5818 (Rep. Steckloff) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:33 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Irwin, McCann, Bayer, Huizenga, and Theis, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adopt the meeting minutes from October 23, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Daley was excused from the meeting. The Chair offered an (S-1) version of SB 1022. The Chair invited Sen. Singh to summarize the (S-1) version of SB 1022. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bayer to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 1022. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Irwin, McCann, Bayer, and Huizenga Nays: Sen. Theis The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. At 12:36 p.m., Sen. Camilleri arrived at committee. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to reconsider the vote by which the (S-1) version of SB 1022 was adopted.
