BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2523 FAX: (517) 373-5669 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES November 14, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Community Development was scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 5060 (Rep. Amos O'Neal) with recommendation. 2. Reported HB 5523 (Rep. Carol Glanville) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Geiss, Victory and Webber, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to adopt the meeting minutes from May 2, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 5060 and HB 5523: Susan Harding, Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 5060 and HB 5523: Thomas Visco, Michigan Community Action – Support Jessica AcMoody, CEDAM – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 5523: Louis Pizker, Wayne Metro Community Action Agency – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to report HB 5060 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Geiss, Victory, and Webber. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. Page 1 of 2 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to report HB 5523 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Geiss, Victory, and Webber. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Webber to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) McDonald Rivet and Lindsey were excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
