BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0142 FAX: (517) 373-3938 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 29, 2025 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Labor was scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Adopted committee rules. 2. Testimony regarding healthcare costs and retirement security for public workers. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri, Cavanagh and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the committee rules. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri, Cavanagh and Albert. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the rules were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding healthcare costs and retirement security for public workers: Katie Kerstetter, Resident Chris Jenuwine, Shelby Township Fire Department Ray Sholtz, Michigan Corrections Organization Cary Johnson, Cotton Correctional Facility Jennifer Wirrick, Saginaw Transit Sen. Sue Shink Claude Gentry, Michigan State Employees Association and Michigan State Police Todd Simon, Waverly Education Association Caryn Leonard, Troy School District Kim Sandefur, Comstock District William Wolfson, Great Lakes Water Authority Ken Schroder, Wyandotte Municipal Services There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
