BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 4, 2025 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Local Government was scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Adopted the 2025-2026 Committee Rules. 2. Testimony regarding SB 23 (Sen. Hertel). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Wojno, Moss, Bayer, Shink and Hoitenga, a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to adopt the 2025-2026 Senate Committee on Local Government Committee Rules. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Wojno, Moss, Bayer, Shink and Hoitenga Nays: None The motion prevailed and the rules were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 23, and invited Sen. Hertel to summarize the bill. The Chair invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB 23: Keith Pionk, Keith Pionk Real Estate - Support Shawon Cecil, Michigan Realtors – Support Brett Hollandsworth, MI Society of Professional Surveyors – Oppose Deena Bosworth, MI Assoc. of County Drain Commissioners – Oppose John Bommarito, MI Land Title Association – Oppose The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 23: Ross Gavin, MI Environmental Council – Oppose Andrea Brown, MI Association of Planning – Oppose Jen Rigterink, MML – Support Dawn Crandall, Home Builders Assoc. of Michigan - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bayer to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Daley was excused from the meeting.
