BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2523 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 17, 2025 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Community Development was scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. in the Room 1100 of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 213 (Sen. McMorrow) and SB 214 (Sen. Damoose) The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m.. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Victory, Lindsey and Webber The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to adopt the meeting minutes from March 13, 2025. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Chair McMorrow passed the gavel to Majority Vice Chair Cavanagh. Sen. McMorrow and Sen. Damoose testified on Senate Bill 213 and Senate Bill 214. Member questions followed. Vice Chair Cavanagh passed the gavel back to Chair McMorrow. Chair McMorrow invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 213 and SB 214: Fred Schaible, Government Affairs Director, Western Michigan University - Support Dr. Alaina Jackson, Managing Director, Global Detroit - Support Steve Grose, Executive Director, Jubilee Ministries - Support Nikki Devitt, President/CEO, Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance - Support The Chair read the card of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB214: Brian Shoaf, Detroit Regional Chamber - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Geiss was excused from the meeting. Page 2 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion to adjourn the committee at 1:20 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
