BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 APPROVED COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 17, 2025 A meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Corrections and Judiciary was scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 1300 of the Binsfeld Office Building. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Santana, Irwin and Outman. The Chair entertained a motion by Senator Santana, supported by Senator Irwin, to adopt the meeting minutes from April 10, 2025. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the FY 2025-26 budget recommendation: Marelina David and Atty. Olsen of the State Appellate Defender Office The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the FY 2025-26 Budget and agency process, including judicial complaint backlog and NCSC report on agency racial disparities: Lynn Helland, Executive Director of the Judicial Tenure Commission The following individual submitted a request to present testimony regarding his complaint with the JTC: Brad Dorland The Chair allowed Mr. Dorland to speak. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion to adjourn the committee at 3:00 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
