BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7350 DRAFT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES December 10, 2025 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education was scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. in the Room 1100 of the Binsfeld Office Building The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 433 (S-1) (Sen. Polehanki). 2. Testimony regarding SB 470 (Sen. Damoose) and SB 471 (Sen. Singh). The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:35 a.m.. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Irwin and Damoose The Chair entertained a motion by Senator Geiss to adopt the meeting minutes from October 28, 2025. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Senators Camilleri and Johnson were excused from the meeting. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 433: Noah Smith, Michigan Association of School Psychologists – Support Noah Smith, Michigan Association of School Social Workers – Support Brian Broderick, Michigan Association of Nonpublic Schools – Support Paul Stankewitz, Michigan Catholic Conference – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to report the (S-1) version of SB 433 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Irwin and Damoose Nays: None Pass: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 470 and SB 471: Sen. Damoose and Sen. Singh – Support Tom Miller, Versaterm Public Safety - No Position Page 2 of 2 The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 470 and SB 471: Brian Broderick, Michigan Association of Nonpublic Schools – Support Paul Stankewitz, Michigan Catholic Conference – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion to adjourn the committee at 11:50 a.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
