HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. BRIAN BEGOLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, May 21, 2026 9:00 AM Room 307, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair BeGole. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. BeGole, Harris, VanderWall, Fitzgerald and McFall. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative VanderWall moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 20, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 770 before the committee: SB 770 (Sen. Cherry) A bill to amend 2001 PA 266, entitled "Grade A milk law of 2001," by amending section 6 (MCL 288.476), as amended by 2018 PA 623. Representative Harris moved to report out SB 770 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 5-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. BeGole, Harris, VanderWall, Fitzgerald and McFall. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HCR 7 before the committee: HCR 7 (Rep. Meerman) A concurrent resolution applying to the Congress of the United States to call a convention to propose amendments to the United States Constitution to impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for federal officials and members of Congress. Representative VanderWall moved to report out HCR 7 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 3-2-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. BeGole, Harris and VanderWall. Nays: Reps. Fitzgerald and McFall. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 5123 and HB 5124 before the committee: HB 5123 (Rep. Harris) A bill to amend 2006 PA 480, entitled "Uniform video services local franchise act," by amending section 1 (MCL 484.3301). HB 5124 (Rep. Snyder) A bill to amend 2006 PA 480, entitled "Uniform video services local franchise act," by amending section 12 (MCL 484.3312). Representative Harris and Jason Colella, representing the office of Representative Snyder, testified in support of HB 5123 and HB 5124. Damon Stewart, representing Dish Network and DirecTV, testified in support of HB 5123. Questions and discussions followed.
