BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 13, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Banking was scheduled for Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation by Mike Duggan, Mayor of the City of Detroit. 2. Presentation by the Mackinac Center. 3. Presentation by the Michigan Association of Independent Insurance Agents. The Chairwoman called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairwoman Theis, Sen.(s) Lauwers, LaSata, Nesbitt, Daley, Barrett, Horn, Geiss, Bullock and McMorrow; a quorum was present. The Chairwoman entertained a motion by Sen. Lauwers to adopt the meeting minutes from February 6, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairwoman invited Mike Duggan, Mayor of the City of Detroit, to give a presentation on solutions involving levels of choice for personal injury protection (PIP). The Chairwoman invited Matt Coffey, of the Mackinac Center, to give a presentation on solutions involving levels of choice for personal injury protection (PIP). The Chairwoman invited Matt Weslock, Will Lemanski, and Rob Umstead, of the Michigan Association of Independent Insurance Agents, to give a presentation on solutions involving levels of choice for personal injury protection (PIP). There being no further business before the committee, the Chairwoman moved to adjourn the committee.
