BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 10, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 37 (Sen. VanderWall). 2. Testimony regarding feeding and baiting deer in the Upper Peninsula. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt, and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chairman invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chairman invited Sen. VanderWall to summarize SB 37. Member questions followed. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 37: Craig Brunet, and Dr. Kelly Straka, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources – opposed. Member questions followed. Dave Johnson, Upper Peninsula Sportsman’s Association, testifying via remote access from Escanaba, Michigan – support. Dave Wheeler, Lucky Buck Mineral – support. Rory Mattson, Delta Conservation District, testifying via remote access from Escanaba, Michigan – support. Mark Bartholomew, Bart’s’ Fruit Market – support. Member questions followed. Tom Ray, Ray’s Feed Mill, testifying via remote access from Escanaba, Michigan – support. Ed Beckley, M-65 Bait shop – support. Member questions followed. George Lindquist, U.P.
