BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 18, 2019 A joint meeting of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness and Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on K-12 and Department of Education was scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2019, at 12:00 noon, in the Harry T. Gast Senate Appropriations Room in the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation by Venessa Keesler and Andy Middlestead, of the Michigan Department of Education, regarding student assessments. 2. Presentation by Peyton Rodriguez, of the Northwest Evaluation Association, Laurie Borkon, of Renaissance, and Luci Willits, of Curriculum Associates, regarding student assessments. 3. Presentation by Jennifer Bond, of Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, and Michael Outman and Luke Rumohr, of Cadillac Area Public Schools, regarding student assessments. The Chairwoman called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairwoman Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Bumstead, Runestad, and Daley; a quorum was present. The Chairwoman moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) Polehanki and Geiss were excused. The Chairwoman invited Venessa Keesler and Andy Middlestead, of the Michigan Department of Education, to present regarding student assessments. The Chairwoman invited Peyton Rodriguez, of the Northwest Evaluation Association, Laurie Borkon, of Renaissance, and Luci Willits, of Curriculum Associates, to present regarding student assessments. The Chairwoman invited Jennifer Bond, of Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, and Michael Outman and Luke Rumohr, of Cadillac Area Public Schools, to present regarding student assessments. Due to time constraints, the following individuals were not able to present before the committee: James E. Thelander, PhD – Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society There being no further business before the committee, the Chairwoman moved to adjourn the committee.
