BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1777 FAX: (517) 373-5871 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES August 13, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Agriculture was scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at 9:00 a.m., in the MSU Pavilion, Michigan State University, 4301 Farm Lane, Lansing, MI 48910. The agenda summary was as follows: 1. Presentation from Joel Johnson, Garry Lee, and Adrienne McTaggart, of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 2. Presentation from Gary McDowell and Ken McFarlane, of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. 3. Presentation from Dave Armstrong, of Greenstone Farm Credit Services. 4. Presentation from Ron Henkrick and Jeff Dwyer, of Michigan State University and MSU Extension. 5. Presentation from Rebecca Park, Doug Darling, and Stephanie Schafer, of the Michigan Farm Bureau. 6. Presentation from Tim Boring, of the Michigan Agri-Business Association. 7. Presentation from Phil Korson. of the Cherry Marketing Institute. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Daley, Sen.(s) Victory, Lauwers, and Polehanki; a quorum was present. The Chairman made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Ananich was excused from the meeting. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Lauwers to adopt the meeting minutes from June 6, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman invited the following individuals to deliver a presentation: Joel Johnson, U.S. Department of Agriculture Garry Lee, U.S. Department of Agriculture Adrienne McTaggart, U.S. Department of Agriculture Gary McDowell, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Ken McFarlane, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Dave Armstrong, Greenstone Farm Credit Services Ron Hendrick, Dean of College of Natural Resources Jeff Dwyer, Director, MSU Extension Page 1 of 2 Rebecca Park, Michigan Farm Bureau Doug Darling, Monroe County Farmer Stephanie Schafer, Clinton County Farmer Tim Boring, Vice President, Michigan Agri-Business Association Phil Korson, President, Cherry Marketing Institute. There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the committee.
