BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES July 15, 2020 A joint meeting of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness and House Committee on Education was scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., in the 352 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding the Return to Learn package. The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:33 a.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Runestad, Daley, Polehanki and Geiss, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Runestad to adopt the meeting minutes from June 23, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding Zach Eckert, Excellence in Education – No Position Dr. Ticheal Jones, CS Partners – No Position Nic Jaskiw, Michigan Association of School Pathologists – No Position Kathy Weaver, Michigan Association of School Social Workers – No Position Samantha Zill, Michigan School Counselors Association – No Position George Stokero, Copper Country ISD – No Position Steve Patchin, Hancock District Schools – No Position Jim Bobula, Ontonagon Area School District – No Position Dr. Gwen Reyes, Hurley Children's Clinic – No Position The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Daley to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Horn was excused from the meeting.
