BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1760 FAX: (517) 373-3487 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 15, 2021 A joint meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Small Business Development and House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was scheduled for Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 12:00 noon, in the Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: Testimony on current and future issues facing the hospitality industry and the unique challenges that persist as other industries rebound. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Lauwers, Schmidt, MacDonald and McMorrow, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from June 17, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) LaSata, Geiss and Moss were excused from the meeting. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the current and future issues facing the hospitality industry: John McNamara, Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association Lisa Reiff, Michigan Association of Fairs and Exhibitions Andy French, Aubree's Pizza Jermaine Jackson, Grand Trunk Pub Liz Ware, Mission Point Paul Wegert, Inn at St. John There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
