BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-3447 FAX: (517) 373-5849 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 15, 2022 A joint meeting of the Senate Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Senate Committee on Finance was scheduled for Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., in the Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentations regarding a Review of Michigan's Gas Taxes, Structure, Pricing Transparency, and Projections. The Senate Committee on Finance was called to order at 9:03 a.m. The Committee called roll. A quorum was present. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Lauwers, Wozniak, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Lauwers to adopt the meeting minutes from March 9, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Outman was excused from the meeting. Chair Runestad made opening remarks regarding the meeting's presentations. Chair Barrett made opening remarks regarding the meeting's presentations. Chair Runestad invited Mark Griffin, President of the Michigan Petroleum Association, to give a presentation regarding Michigan's motor fuel, its costs, and taxes of gasoline. Questions followed from members of both committees. Page 1 of 2 Chair Runestad invited David Zin, Chief Economist of the Senate Fiscal Agency, to give a presentation regarding motor fuel taxation in Michigan. Questions followed from members of both committees. Chair Runestad invited Aaron Keel and Jeff Guilfoyle, of the Michigan Department of Treasury, Troy Hagon and Paul Ajegba, Directors, and Patrick McCarthy, of the Michigan Department of Transportation, to answer questions regarding Michigan's motor fuel taxes. Questions followed from members of both committees. The Senate Committee on Finance adjourned at 9:54 a.m. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
