BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7346 FAX: (517) 373-9320 JOINT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 25, 2023 A joint meeting of the Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety with the Senate Committee on Health Policy was scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., in the Heritage Hall State Room South, State Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentations regarding Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Chair Chang called the Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety to order at 12:36 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Chang, Sen.(s) Wojno, Irwin, Santana, Runestad and Johnson, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to adopt the meeting minutes from March 20, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. At 12:34 p.m., the Senate Committee on Health Policy was called to order and the roll was called. A quorum was present. The Chair invited Kimberly Hurst, Founder and Executive Director of the Avalon Healing Center, and Dr. Rebecca Campbell, Professor at Michigan State University, to give a presentation regarding the Avalon Healing Center. The Chair moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Shink was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 1:42 p.m. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Hertel moved to adjourn the Senate Committee on Health Policy.
