BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 DRAFT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 24, 2025 A meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Corrections and Judiciary was scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 1300 of the Binsfeld Office Building. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:32 p.m.. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, all members were present. The Chair entertained a motion by Senator Irwin, supported by Senator Santana, to adopt the meeting minutes from April 17, 2025. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Joe Carrasco Jr. provided an overview of the Chair's Recommendation for the FY 2025-26 Department of Corrections Budget (SB169). The Chair entertained a motion by Senator Santana, supported by Senator Irwin, to adopt the (S-1) version of SB169. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Santana and Irwin Nays: Sen. Outman Excused: None Not Voting: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair made a motion, supported by Senator Irwin, to report the S-1 version of SB169 to the Committee on Appropriations with recommendation as substituted (S-1). The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Santana and Irwin Nays: Sen. Outman Excused: None Not Voting: None The motion prevailed and the bill was referred. Michael Siracuse provided an overview of the Chair's Recommendation for the FY 2025-26 Judiciary Budget (SB170). Page 2 of 2 The Chair entertained a motion by Senator Irwin, supported by Senator Santana, to adopt the (S-1) version of SB170. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Santana and Irwin Nays: Sen. Outman Excused: None Not Voting: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair made a motion, supported by Senator Santana, to report the S-1 version of SB170 to the Committee on Appropriations with recommendation as substituted (S-1). The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Santana and Irwin Nays: Sen. Outman Excused: None Not Voting: None The motion prevailed and the bill was referred. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion, supported by Senator Santana, to adjourn the committee at 1:48 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
