- **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 27, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Universities and Community Colleges was scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., in the Harry T. Gast Appropriations Room, 3rd Floor, Capitol Building. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair LaSata, Sen.(s) Horn, Bizon, MacDonald, Zorn and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn, supported by Sen. Bizon, to adopt the meeting minutes from February 20, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding workforce development efforts at Macomb Community College. Mike Hansen, President, Michigan Community Colleges Association Dr. Jim Sawyer, President, Macomb Community College The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding inter-college collaboration on high- demand, low-enrollment programs. Margie Clark, Dean of Health and Human Services, Lansing Community College Dr. Amy Lee, Director of Collaborative Programs, Michigan Community Colleges Association The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding progress on the transfer initiative. Dr. Erica Orians, Executive Director of the Center for Student Success, Michigan Community Colleges Association There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion, supported by Sen. Horn, to adjourn the committee at 4:00 p.m.Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Page 1 of 1
