- **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 20, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Universities and Community Colleges was scheduled for Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., in the Harry T. Gast Appropriations Room, 3rd Floor, Capitol Building. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair LaSata, Sens. Horn, Bizon, MacDonald, Zorn, Irwin and Hertel, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. MacDonald, supported by Sen. Bizon, to adopt the meeting minutes from February 13, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Melissa Kiesewetter, Michigan Department of Civil Rights to present testimony regarding the North American Indian Tuition Waiver. The Chair invited Anne Wohlfert, Bureau Administrator, Office of Postsecondary Planning, Michigan Department of Treasury, Scott de Varona, Director of Michigan Guaranty Agency, Michigan Department of Treasury, and Kara Scheeneman, Loan Specialist, Michigan Department of Treasury, to present testimony and answer questions from members of the subcommittee regarding the Governor's proposed Michigan Student Loan Refinance Program. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion, supported by Sen. Horn, to adjourn the committee at 4:00 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
