- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES AND TOURISM REP. DAVID MARTIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, June 17, 2026 Noon. Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism was called to order by Chair Martin. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Martin, St. Germaine, VanderWall, Outman, Hoadley, Johnsen, Prestin, Bohnak, Fairbairn, Wortz, McFall, Scott, Foreman, Myers-Phillips and Wooden. Absent: Reps. Weiss and Arbit. Excused: Reps. Weiss and Arbit. Representative Wortz moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 03, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5307 before the committee: HB 5307 (Rep. VanderWall) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 40118 (MCL 324.40118), as amended by 2023 PA 55. Representative VanderWall moved to report out HB 5307 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 14-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Martin, St. Germaine, VanderWall, Outman, Hoadley, Johnsen, Prestin, Bohnak, Fairbairn, Wortz, McFall, Scott, Foreman and Wooden. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 5687 before the committee: HB 5687 (Rep. Frisbie) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending sections 44101, 44103, 44104, 44105, and 44106 (MCL 324.44101, 324.44103, 324.44104, 324.44105, and 324.44106), sections 44101, 44103, and 44106 as added by 1995 PA 57 and sections 44104 and 44105 as amended by 2004 PA 587, and by adding section 44102a. Representative Frisbie, Brian Mohlman, and Tim Paxson, representing the American Legion Department of Michigan, testified in support of HB 5687. Questions and discussions followed. Chris Semrinec, representing the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, testified in opposition to HB 5687. Questions and discussions followed. Representative McFall moved to excuse Representatives Weiss and Arbit from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
