BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 13, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at 12:30 p.m., in the Harry T. Gast Appropriations Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 879 (S-1) (Sen. MacGregor). 2. Testimony regarding SB 920 (Sen. MacGregor). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:31 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, Theis, Brinks, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from March 12, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair offered an (S-1) version to SB 879. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 879. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, Theis, Brinks, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair invited Sen. MacGregor to summarize SB 879 and SB 920. At 12:35 p.m., Sen. Santana entered the meeting. Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 879: Brian Sapita, Michigan Pharmacists Association – Support Karen Jonas, Michigan Association of Health Plans – No Position The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 879: Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners – Support Christine Shearer, Michigan Association of Health Plans – No Position Amy Drumm, Michigan Retailers Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 920: Amy Drumm, Michigan Retailers Association – Support The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) MacDonald and Hertel were excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
