- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. BRIAN BEGOLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 18, 2026 9:00 AM Room 307, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair BeGole. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. BeGole, Harris, VanderWall, Fitzgerald and McFall. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative VanderWall moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 11, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 6009 before the committee: HB 6009 (Rep. Roth) A bill to regulate certain provisions in certain public employment contracts; to limit severance payments to certain public employees and public officers; and to require the disclosure or publication of certain public employment contracts. Representative Harris moved to report out HB 6009 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 5-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. BeGole, Harris, VanderWall, Fitzgerald and McFall. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 5145 before the committee: HB 5145 (Rep. Woolford) A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled "The social welfare act," (MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 10h. Representative Harris offered the following amendment to HB 5145: 1. Amend page 1, line 5, after "under" by striking out "the" and inserting "any". Representative Harris moved to adopt the amendment to HB 5145. The motion prevailed 3-2-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. BeGole, Harris and VanderWall. Nays: Reps. Fitzgerald and McFall. Pass: None. Representative Woolford testified in support of HB 5145. Questions and discussions followed. Martin) A bill to designate April 19 of each year as Patriots' Day. Representative Martin testified in support of HB 5713. Questions and discussions followed. Fitzgerald. The Chair laid HB 5283 before the committee: HB 5283 (Rep. Frisbie) A bill to designate the Honor and Remember flag as the official symbol of remembrance of the state of Michigan. Representative Johnsen and Sam Larey, representing the Office of Representative Frisbie, testified in support of HB 5283. Representative Harris moved to report out HB 5283 with recommendation.
