BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES December 1, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 10:15 a.m., in the 100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony Regarding Absentee Ballot Counting at the TCF Center. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:20 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Lucido, Theis, MacDonald and Irwin, a quorum was present. Chair McBroom invited the committees to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom welcomed Sen.(s) Santana and Daley and Rep. Alexander to the meeting. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Lucido the adopt the meeting minutes from October 20, 2020, November 7, 2020 and the November 19, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Chair McBroom summarized the days agenda and gave opening comments announcing the availability and location of overflow rooms for attendees, acknowledging the receipt of written testimony and requesting testifiers limit their comments to first-hand experiences at the TCF Center and 3 minutes to allow everyone interested in testifying an opportunity. Chair McBroom brought to the members attention a letter of clarification submitted by Kent County Clerk, Lisa Posthumus Lyons regarding her testimony during the previous committee hearing. Chair McBroom invited former Sen. Patrick Colbeck to give the committee a presentation regarding his observations relative to absentee ballot counting at the TCF Center. Member questions and discussion followed.
