BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 20, 2020 A joint meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight and Senate Committee on Elections was scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., in the Harry T. Gast Appropriations Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation by the Director of the Michigan Bureau of Elections regarding the 2020 Elections. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:04 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Lucido, Theis, MacDonald, and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Senate Committee on Elections called to order at 2:05 p.m. The Committee called roll. A quorum was present. The Chair invited the committees to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair invited Jonathan Brater, Director of the Michigan Bureau of Elections, to give a presentation regarding the transformation of the Michigan election process and system due to COVID-19 and the implemented safeguards for the November 2020 election. Questions followed from members of both committees. The Chair requested that the Director provide the committees with more information regarding the statutes for the election process. The Senate Committee on Elections adjourned at 3:36 p.m. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adopt the meeting minutes from October 7, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen.
