- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ELECTION INTEGRITY REP. RACHELLE SMIT CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 23, 2026 9:00 AM Room 307, House Office Building The House Committee on Election Integrity was called to order by Chair Smit. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Smit, Fox, Outman, Alexander, Hoadley, Pavlov, Wooden, Koleszar and Xiong. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Fox moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 09, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HJR W before the committee: HJR W (Rep. Aragona) A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the state constitution of 1963, by amending section 6 of article IV, to modify the time a commissioner on the independent citizens redistricting commission is ineligible to hold a partisan elective office. Representative Aragona testified in support of HJR W. Questions and discussions followed. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HJR W, but did not wish to speak: Kim Murphy-Kovalick, representing Voters Not Politicians. The following person submitted a card in support of HJR W, but did not wish to speak: Sheree Ritchie, representing Pure Integrity Michigan Elections. The Chair laid HB 6090 before the committee: HB 6090 (Rep. Schriver) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending section 558 (MCL 168.558), as amended by 2021 PA 158. Representative Schriver testified in support of HB 6090. Questions and discussions followed. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 6090, but did not wish to speak: Sheree Ritchie, representing Pure Integrity Michigan Elections. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 6090, but did not wish to speak: Kyle Zawacki, representing the ACLU of Michigan.
