BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 10, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness was scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 12:00 noon, in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4037 (Rep. Hornberger), HB 4038 (Rep. Reilly) and HB 4538 (Rep. Camilleri). 2. Testimony regarding HB 5686 (Rep. Hornberger). 3. Testimony regarding HB 4810 (Rep. Martin) and HB 4811 (Rep. Paquette). 4. Testimony regarding HB 5190 (Rep. Farrington). 5. Testimony regarding HB 4375 (Rep. Johnson) and HB 5536 (Rep. Stone). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:26 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Runestad, Daley, Huizenga and Polehanki, a quorum was present. The Chair made a motion to adopt the meeting minutes from March 22, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Geiss was excused from the meeting. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the (S-3) version of HB 4538. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Runestad, Daley, and Polehanki. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-3) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Runestad to adopt the (S-2) version of HB 4810. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Runestad, Daley, and Polehanki. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted.
