- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC COMPETITIVENESS REP. MIKE HOADLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 25, 2026 10:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Economic Competitiveness was called to order by Chair Hoadley. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Hoadley, Bohnak, Outman, Harris, BeGole, DeBoyer, St. Germaine, Grant, Brixie and Tate. Absent: Rep. Coffia. Excused: Rep. Coffia. Representative BeGole moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 11, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5152 and HB 5153 before the committee: HB 5152 (Rep. Paquette) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending section 3208 (MCL 600.3208) and by adding sections 3214 and 3222. HB 5153 (Rep. Andrews) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending sections 3240 and 3252 (MCL 600.3240 and 600.3252), section 3240 as amended by 2019 PA 130. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5152 and HB 5153, but did not wish to speak: Jordan Klint, representing the Harbor County Mission. Jeff Kirkpatrick, representing the Michigan Court Officers and Deputy Sheriff's Association. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 5152 and HB 5153, but did not wish to speak: Joanne Misuraca, representing the Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association. Jeff Weiserman, representing Trott Law. Representative Outman moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 5152. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hoadley, Bohnak, Outman, Harris, BeGole, DeBoyer, St. Germaine, Grant and Tate. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative DeBoyer moved to report out HB 5152 with recommendation, as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 8-0-1: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hoadley, Bohnak, Outman, Harris, BeGole, DeBoyer, St. Germaine and Grant. Nays: None. Pass: Rep. Tate. Representative Bohnak moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 5153. The motion prevailed 10-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hoadley, Bohnak, Outman, Harris, BeGole, DeBoyer, St. Germaine, Grant, Brixie and Tate. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Harris moved to report out HB 5153 with recommendation, as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 8-0-2: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hoadley, Bohnak, Outman, Harris, BeGole, DeBoyer, St. Germaine and Grant. Nays: None. Pass: Reps. Brixie and Tate. Representative Grant moved to excuse Representative Coffia from the meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Hoadley adjourned the meeting at 10:36 AM.
