BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 3, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4356 (Rep. Meerman). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Brinks, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from May 27, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Tim Holland, of Rep. Meerman's office, to summarize HB 4356. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4356: Dr. Scott Westhouse, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons – Oppose Dr. Roger Seelye, Michigan Optometric Association – Oppose Dr. James Hardie, Michigan Optometric Association – Oppose Erik Castaneda, 1-800 Contacts – Support Kyle Zebley, American Telemedicine Association – Support Leah Vukmir, National Taxpayer Association – Support Linda Sherry, Consumer Action – Support Dr. James Wachter, Eyecare Partners – Oppose Dr. Joseph Gira, Eyecare Partners – Oppose Courtney Joslin, R Street – Support Chris Grim, Warby Parker – Support Dr. Dan Vargovick, Eyecare Partners Medical Advisory Board – Oppose Rev.
