BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 15, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 449 (Sen. McBroom). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon and Irwin, a quorum was present. Chair McBroom invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adopt the meeting minutes from June 8, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 449, and summarized the bill. Member questions and discussion followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 449: Dennis Pollard, Citizen – Support. Member questions followed. Dan Behm, Superintendent Forrest Hills school District – Support. Member questions followed. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 449: Judy Allen, Michigan Townships Association- Support Deena Bosworth, Michigan Association of Counties – Support Chris Hackbarth, Michigan Municipal League – Support Jennifer Smith, Michigan Association of School Boards – Support David Randels, Oakland Schools - Support There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adjourn the committee at 2:39 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Date Adopted by the Committee: 06/21/2021
