- **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 24, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on MDE was scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 12:00 noon, in the Harry T. Gast Appropriations Room. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Referred SB 769 ( Bayer) to the Committee on Appropriations, with recommendation, as amended and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Bayer, Sen.(s) Klinefelt and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Klinefelt, supported by Sen. Albert, to adopt the meeting minutes from February 22, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the Senate Subcommittee Chair Recommendation for the FY 2024-25, Department of Education budget. Cory Savino, Senate Fiscal Agency – Neutral The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Klinefelt, supported by Sen. Bayer, to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 769. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bayer, Sen.(s) Klinefelt. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Klinefelt, supported by Sen. Bayer, to refer SB 769 to the Committee on Appropriations, with recommendation, as amended. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bayer, Sen.(s) Klinefelt. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the bill was referred. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion, supported by Sen. Klinefelt, to adjourn the committee at 12:06 p.m.Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Page 1 of 1
