- **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 16, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on PreK-12 was scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 12:00 noon, in the Harry T. Gast Appropriations Room. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Camilleri, Sen.(s) Polehanki, Hertel, Klinefelt, Cavanagh, McDonald Rivet, Theis and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki, supported by Sen. Hertel, to adopt the meeting minutes from March 20, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair laid SB 751 before the committee: SB 751 (Sen. Camilleri) A bill to amend 1979 PA 94, entitled "The state school aid act of 1979," by amending sections 11 and 17b (MCL 388.1611 and 388.1617b), section 11 as amended by 2023 PA 320 and section 17b as amended by 2007 PA 137. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 751: Senator Camilleri, MI Senate – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 751: John McNamara, MI Restaurant & Lodging Association – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki, supported by Sen. Klinefelt, to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 751. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Camilleri, Sen.(s) Polehanki, Hertel, Klinefelt, Cavanagh, McDonald Rivet, and Theis. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki, supported by Sen. Cavanagh, The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Camilleri, Sen.(s) Polehanki, Hertel, Klinefelt, Cavanagh, and McDonald Rivet. Nays: Sen.(s) Albert. Page 1 of 2 Pass: Sen.(s) Theis. The motion prevailed and the bill was referred. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion, supported by Sen. McDonald Rivet, to adjourn the committee at 12:14 a.m.Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Page 2 of 2
