- **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 28, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on PreK-12 was scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 12:00 noon, in the Harry T. Gast Appropriations Room. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:04 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Camilleri, Sen.(s) Polehanki, Hertel, Klinefelt, Cavanagh, Theis and Albert, a quorum was present. At 12:26 p.m., Sen. Mary Cavanagh entered the meeting. A quorum was now present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Hertel, supported by Sen. Camilleri, to adopt the meeting minutes from February 21, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding school funding models Alice Thompson, Chair of the Detroit NAACP Education Committee, CEO of BFDI Educational Services, Inc., and former CEO of Black Family Development Amber Arellano, Executive Director of The Education Trust-Midwest Jeff Cobb, Director of Government Affairs of The Education Trust-Midwest The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the School Finance Research Collaborative Ron Koehler, Superintendent of Kent ISD Chris Glass, Assistant Superintendent of Legislative Affairs - Education Advocates of West Michigan There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion, supported by Sen. Cavanagh, to adjourn the committee at 1:24 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Page 1 of 1
