- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON FAMILIES AND VETERANS REP. KATHY SCHMALTZ CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Families and Veterans was called to order by Chair Schmaltz. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Schmaltz, Wozniak, Fox, Johnsen, Thompson, Pavlov, Young, Byrnes, Rheingans and Xiong. Absent: Rep. Woolford. Excused: Rep. Woolford. Representative Wozniak moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 04, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid a presentation from the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs before the committee. Terry Sabo, representing the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, gave an overview of the department. Questions and discussions followed. The Chair laid a presentation on Michigan Veteran Homes before the committee. Anne Zerbe, representing the Michigan Veteran Homes, gave an introduction to Michigan Veteran Homes. Questions and discussions followed. The Chair laid a presentation on the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency before the committee. Brian Love, representing the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, gave an introduced to the agency. Questions and discussions followed. Representative Schmaltz moved to excuse Rep. Woolford from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Schmaltz adjourned the meeting at 1:16 PM.
