- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON INSURANCE AND FINANCIAL SERVICES REP. BRENDA CARTER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 2, 2023 9:00 a.m. Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Insurance and Financial Services was called to order by Chair Brenda Carter. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Brenda Carter, McFall, Coleman, Stone, Breen, Rogers, Scott, Young, Fitzgerald, Grant, Harris, Markkanen, Bezotte, Bruck, Neyer, Smit. Absent: Rep. Aragona. Excused: Rep. Aragona. Representatives Grant, Markkanen and Bruck joined the committee remotely. Representative Fitzgerald moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 9, 2023. There being no objections, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation given by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) on "Getting to Know DIFS." The following presenters testified: Joseph Sullivan, the Insurance Legislative Liaison for DIFS; and Ross H. Yednock, the Financial Services Legislative Liaison for DIFS. The Chair made comments on her expectations from committee members and staff. The Chair asked committee members and staff to introduce themselves to the full committee. Representative Harris moved to excuse Representative Aragona from the meeting. There being no objections the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Breen moved to adjourn.
