- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE REP. KARA HOPE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 7, 2023 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Criminal Justice was called to order by Chair Hope. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hope, Andrews, Tyrone Carter, Breen, Young, Arbit, Dievendorf, Tsernoglou, Filler, Bezotte, Harris, BeGole. Absent: Rep. Mueller. Excused: Rep. Mueller. Representative Arbit joined the committee remotely. Representative Tsernoglou moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 28, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Chair Hope laid before the committee a presentation by the Michigan Department of Corrections. Kyle Kaminski, Legislative Liaison for the department, gave a presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Chair Hope laid before the committee a presentation by the Michigan Center for Youth Justice. Jennifer Peacock, Policy Director, gave a presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card wishing to speak, but due to the time constraints was unable to speak: John Taylor, representing Pathways Community Mental Health. Representative Andrews moved to excuse Representative Mueller from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
