HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. TULLIO LIBERATI CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, May 10, 2023 12:00 PM Room 307, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair Liberati. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Liberati, Pohutsky, McFall, Posthumus, Greene. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Pohutsky moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 22, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4177 before the committee: HB 4177 (Rep. Tyrone Carter) An act to provide for the establishment of history museum authorities; to provide for the powers and duties of a history museum authority; to authorize the levy and collection of a property tax by a history museum authority; and to provide for the powers and duties of certain state and local governmental officers and entities. The following person submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 4177, but did not wish to speak: Peter Morman, representing the Michigan Department of Treasury. Representative McFall moved to refer HB 4177 to the Committee on Regulatory Reform. The motion prevailed 3-0-2: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Liberati, Pohutsky, McFall. Nays: None. Pass: Reps. Posthumus, Greene. The Chair laid HR 59 before the committee: HR 59 (Rep. Coleman) A resolution to urge the United States government and Michiganders to strengthen ties with Taiwan. Representative Greene moved to report out HR 59 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 5-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Liberati, Pohutsky, McFall, Posthumus, Greene. Nays: None. Pass: None.
