JASON M HOSKINS CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, May 23, 2023 9:00 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Economic Development and Small Business was called to order by Chair Hoskins. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hoskins, Grant, Whitsett, Liberati, Coffia, Farhat, Miller, Tisdel, VanWoerkom, Martin, Roth, St. Germaine. Absent: Rep. Neeley. Excused: Rep. Neeley. Representative Whitsett joined the committee remotely. The Chair laid SB 289 before the committee: SB 289 (Sen. Moss) A bill to amend 1996 PA 381, entitled "Brownfield redevelopment financing act," by amending sections 2, 8a, 11, 13, 13b, 13c, 14a, 15, and 16 (MCL 125.2652, 125.2658a, 125.2661, 125.2663, 125.2663b, 125.2663c, 125.2664a, 125.2665, and 125.2666), section 2 as amended by 2022 PA 178, sections 8a and 11 as amended by 2017 PA 46, sections 13, 13b, 15, and 16 as amended by 2020 PA 259, and sections 13c and 14a as amended by 2021 PA 138. Senator Moss and Jared Fleisher testified in support of SB 289. Questions and discussion followed. Tim Greimel,the Mayor of Pontiac, testified in support of SB 289. Rosalyn Bliss, the Mayor of Grand Rapids, testified in support of SB 289. Shannon Morgan, representing the Renovare Development, testified in support of SB 289. Jennifer Rigterink, representing the Michigan Municipal League, testified in support of SB 289. Representative Liberati moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 16, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Representative Grant moved to excuse Representative Neeley from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
