STEPHANIE A YOUNG CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 13, 2023 12:00 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Families, Children and Seniors was called to order by Chair Young. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Young, Coffia, Glanville, Arbit, Edwards, MacDonell, Wozniak, Fox, Johnsen, Thompson. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Edwards moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 6, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4676, HB 4677 and HB 4678 before the committee: HB 4676 (Rep. Young) A bill to amend 1994 PA 203, entitled "Foster care and adoption services act," by amending section 8b (MCL 722.958b), as added by 2018 PA 489. HB 4677 (Rep. Young) A bill to amend 1994 PA 203, entitled "Foster care and adoption services act," (MCL 722.951 to 722.960) by adding section 8e. HB 4678 (Rep. Edwards) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1281c. Representative Coffia moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 4676. The motion prevailed 6- 0-3: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Young, Coffia, Glanville, Arbit, Edwards, MacDonell. Nays: None. Pass: Reps. Wozniak, Fox, Johnsen, Thompson. The Chair laid a presentation on the Area Agencies on Aging before the committee. David LaLumia, Executive Director of Area Agencies on Aging Association gave a presentation. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid a presentation on the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan before the committee. Executive Director Heidi Gustine and Director of Community and Business Advancement, Kandi Lannen agave the presentation. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid a presentation on the Detroit Area Agency on Aging Services before the committee. Ronald Taylor, President, and CEO gave the presentation. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4676, HB 4677 and HB 4678, but did not wish to speak: Bobby Dorigo Jones, representing Michigan Children. Tom Hickson, representing the Michigan Catholic Conference. Jeff Cobb, representing the Education Trust Midwest.
