BRENDA CARTER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 22, 2023 9:00 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Insurance and Financial Services was called to order by Chair Brenda Carter. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Brenda Carter, McFall, Coleman, Stone, Breen, Rogers, Scott, Young, Fitzgerald, Grant, Harris, Markkanen, Aragona, Bruck, Neyer, Smit. Absent: Rep. Bezotte. Excused: Rep. Bezotte. Representative Scott moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 20, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid a presentation on Delta Dental before the Committee. Rick Lantz, Vice President & Chief Lobbyist for Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, and Dr. Holli Seabury, the Executive Director for the Delta Dental Foundation, gave a presentation. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid HB 4595 before the committee: HB 4595 (Rep. Martus) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by repealing section 1206c (MCL 500.1206c). Representative Scott moved to report out HB 4595 with recommendation.
