- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND SENIORS REP. STEPHANIE A YOUNG CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 27, 2023 8:30 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Families, Children and Seniors was called to order by Chair Young. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Young, Coffia, Glanville, Arbit, Edwards, MacDonell, Wozniak. Absent: Reps. Fox, Johnsen, Thompson. Excused: Reps. Fox, Johnsen, Thompson. Representative Glanville moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 20, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4320 and HB 4387 before the committee: HB 4320 (Rep. MacDonell) A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled "The Michigan penal code," (MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 145h. HB 4387 (Rep. MacDonell) A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled "The code of criminal procedure," by amending section 16g of chapter XVII (MCL 777.16g), as amended by 2020 PA 50. A substitute (H-1) was adopted for HB 4320 at the June 20, 2023, meeting. At 8:42 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 8:44 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 4320 and HB 4387, but did not wish to speak: Mary Pollock, representing the Michigan State Employee Retirees Association. Representative Arbit gave remarks in support of HB 4320. Representative MacDonell moved to report out HB 4320 with recommendation, as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 7-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Young, Coffia, Glanville, Arbit, Edwards, MacDonell, Wozniak. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Arbit moved to report out HB 4387 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 7-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Young, Coffia, Glanville, Arbit, Edwards, MacDonell, Wozniak. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Wozniak moved to excuse Representatives Fox, Johnsen and Thompson from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
